Partners

Mike Holdstock is a founding partner of Holdstock Nicholls Train & Co in 1987 and has been involved in accountancy for over 40 years. He specialises in corporate, strategic, business and estate planning and compliance matters within the practice. Paul Train, also founding partner, commenced in the profession in 1973. Paul specialises in business and financial planning, both private and corporate and practice finance.
Both partners share the same ethos – a dedication to pro-active approach in all service areas of the practice and a continuing investment in information technology.
The partners are members and past Presidents of their respective Rotary Clubs (Hull Paragon and Hornsea and East Riding), organisations dedicated to ideals of service, not only in the local community but national and worldwide. Mike and Paul have been supporters and sponsors of Hull City AFC and currently the firm is an Official Tiger’s Business Partner.
Accounts & Auditing Department

Paul Shearsmith is one of our longest serving employees starting with the practice as a junior 19 years ago and is now Accounts/Auditing Manager. His comprehensive range of specialist skills in accounts and his knowledge of all clients have contributed substantially to the firm’s progress in this area. His colleague, Mike Gill, joined the firm ten years ago and is now Accounts/Auditing Manager, recently achieving full membership of the ACCA. His substantial knowledge and technical skill provide valuable support to the accounts production. Our third member of the Accounts Department is Andy Jordan who is our newest recruit, joining the practice a year ago and is currently studying for AAT qualification.
Tax Department

Sandra Padley has worked for the practice for 12 years as Tax Manager, previously employed by the Inland Revenue for 18 years. Her extensive knowledge in all taxation matters, and background in revenue procedures, provides the firm with valuable planning expertise. Sandra works closely with Debbie O’Neill who joined Holdstock Nicholls Train & Co seven years ago as Taxation Assistant. She has gained considerable experience in all taxation matters and supervises CIS, tax credits and forms P11D.
Bookkeeping and Payroll Bureau

Diane Keimpema prepares clients’ payroll for the partnership and provides advice on related employment matters. She is currently studying computerised accounting and has a long experience in bookkeeping. Shirley Palmer is an experienced bookkeeper and works as a team of two within the bureau collating client’s information for Sageline 50 processing and preparation of VAT returns and management accounts. Her colleague, Anita Twitchell, commenced in May 2008 and has many years of experience processing records, preparing management accounts and reports, both manually and through Sageline 50, including VAT returns.
Administration Department

Pam Jones joined our team in 1987 as Administration Assistant and assisting in the Payroll Bureau. Pam is now Practice Manager and her keen attention to detail and enthusiasm in her role has proved to be a valuable asset in the practice. Our Administrator is Jo Rimmer who has worked in both the public and private sectors and joined the practice just over a year ago. Jo’s organisational and communication skills have assisted substantially in her supervision of IT and front of house. Denise Baker is the third member of our Administration Team who carries out front of house and administration duties. As well as assisting within the Tax Department, Denise looks after the practices own data processing.
